The very fact that we exist connects us to the source of life; the source of energy and pure power that moves forward, yet also, can create a stopped moment in time. This source is omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent!
What is this source that is the very creator of human existence? It is, of course, God, who goes by many names in different religions. God says: “I am the The Almighty, creator of heavens and earth, of all that is seen and unseen.” “My thoughts are not your thoughts, and neither are they your ways, they are My Ways, says The Lord.”
This power we cannot see but feel is the Holy Spirit. God is Spirit and because it created us in its image, we are also part of its spirit. We live on Earth until we leave our earthly bodies to become purely spirit.
When we are born, God gives us “grace” or “favor,” which is a gift.
We are made in God’s image, but we are not completely similar to it. We, being human, born with flesh and bones, cannot live as an entirely spiritual entity. The physical bodies we are given tie us to a physical existence on Earth and it’s not a bad thing. In the third century The Almighty gave us 613 commandments written in the Torah that help us live and coexist with each other peacefully. These laws to live by include how to govern, how to stay healthy, how to handle money, and more.
These laws were given while people were escaping from slavery to a life of freedom and joy. A perilous journey lay ahead of them to go into a land to be free and prosper in all good things. They had to step out on faith first, though, and believe that the Holy Spirit was driving them, beyond fear and reasoning.
The Lord gave them the gift of favor (also known as grace) as their birthright. Grace was not only bestowed specially on people thousands of years ago. God gives grace freely, as a birthright to every human in the world. God is a God for everyone as outlined in John 3:16, Genesis 1:27, Galations 3:28, Acts 10:34, Acts 17:26, Proverbs 22:2, and Ezekiel 33:20.
Grace is a birthright but God does expect us to give of ourselves to it. Humans were given free will and they can choose to abandon the spirit but surrendering to it truly leads to the gifts of living a much freer, joyful, and bigger life.
We have a choice. The choices are following the Holy Spirit or living based only on our free will, which comes from our flesh and the desires of it. The only difference with either choice is that one leads to infinite freedom and one is finite. The infinite choice, even though it requires a bit more discipline, is like learning to surf or any new discipline you choose to compare it with.
When we choose to jump on the wave of the Holy Spirit, we connect our Spirit. That’s why Jesus died on the cross – for the infinite freedom of us (John 3:16). He died bleeding the blood we are made of. The Holiness of God and the Holy Spirit was finally showed to us as this amazing source of knowing that God is indeed with us, in us and through us, so we may also know each other. We only need a small bit of faith to live every day in this power.
If we surrender to God’s Will, we render our will to experience The Lord’s Will over our lives and in turn we have experiences that are much better than if we have to stay in charge.
“If we surrender to God’s Will, we render our will to experience The Lord’s Will over our lives and in turn we have experiences that are much better than if we have to stay in charge.”
It might sound scary but it’s not since God truly wants the best for you; He can provide you with exactly what you need to be happiest. Even though our free will is usually much more enticing and it’s what we think we want to be “be happy,” it will always lead us to a wall. Free-will decisions have an end and we will hit the wall.
Our other choice is to have faith in the Creator, and even though it’s usually the tougher choice to make and requires more of us, it will bring us closer to His spirit and our needs. It’s like surfing a wave in the untamed ocean. It’s a little scary but it’s definitely surrendering to a much more powerful force. There is nothing like feeling this force and experiencing this beauty as it is a living force within all of us. It is having faith that you’ll be ok.
That’s how it is when we connect our spirit with the Holy Spirit. When we get up and walk out in this faith knowing we can trust God, we become a light for others to see and light up themselves with their own light.
Putting God first is believing that there is a power so much bigger than us and using our gifts! There is a reason for having a passion. It is the spiritual side of us that moves outward. It is the Creator showing us that the Holy Spirit connects our lives with God.
We are given a life and a name. We are also given vessel, which is our body and brain, in which to hold our soul. Our soul is the essence of who we are, how others see us, and how we see them. Our soul allows us to know who we are and how we exist. When we spend more time realizing that we exist, we begin to transcend our body and mind and enter our consciousness which is our spirit. Then we become more of what comes from God the Creator, as it is the power of God’s Divinity in all its glory to free us from the bondage or weight that comes from living: “…the peace of God, which passes all understanding.”
We have now set our souls free. At this point, even though we still desire our free will choices, our souls are now more enticed by the spiritual part of us that wants connection with God. By acknowledging our existence, we have now transcended into a more spiritual existence and that will line our free will up more with God’s Will and we will experience more, every day.
We are put on this beautiful, powerful earth, with everything that we need and an amazing brain to figure it out. The Creator gives all of these resources freely because it is omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent! God also gives us grace, which each religion calls by a different name, but it is ultimately the favor from our Creator!
This Creator is what we don’t know. It is right with us, yet we have no idea as to anything about it. All we know is that it is always present, everywhere, and with each and every one of us upon this whole earth! After all there is an entire universe and the heavens out there. Christ came to tell us that we are to focus here, upon the earth.
God gives us this favor, or grace, to help us and when we line ourselves up with this and stay focused on this than we are able to use this grace to change our world. We can change our minds and point them toward the Almighty. It doesn’t leave us ever, but if we choose to ignore this gift then it is to our own detriment.
The power of the Holy Spirit is to know and manifest the energy from this freely-given power of grace. God is Love, amongst so much more. Don’t get it turned around. We are meant to celebrate this glory every day because this is the stuff of grace. When you free yourself of your own self-absorbed control you can release and gain God’s freedom, long beyond your passing of this earth!
“The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound but you don’t know where it comes from or where it goes; so it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.” John 3:8.
God loves you no matter what; no one can say they’re unloved in this world because our Father loves us all.

I care about the faith of our generations and the impact it has on their lives. “Put God 1st and use your gifts” was the original thought behind Spiritual SurfWear and God Power Tees, a faith-based, original art t-shirt collections by me, Lisa Hornor, artist and designer.
My first collection was made of large ocean waves to be symbolic of God’s spiritual power. The art that I painted was meant to be spiritual in design with the concept of giant waves and the untamed ocean which takes up a lot of space on this earth.
