When You Focus Within, You Find God Everywhere

July 3, 2026 Posted by Lisa Hornor artist News No Comments

Some days feel like noise you can’t turn off.

Not just in the world, but inside your own thoughts too. Everything feels active, everything feels alive, but nothing feels still. And in that state, it’s hard to get anything done and even your spiritual connection can feel lost.

The Journey Doesn’t Begin Outside, It Begins Within

When we start by looking to focus from external things, it doesn’t necessarily last.

We look for answers in people.

We look for the internet.

We look for comfort in routines.

We look for meaning in situations changing.

Life teaches us something deeper: if the inside is restless, the outside will always feel empty. That’s why focusing within matters so much. Not as a technique, but as a return.

Because when we pay attention to our mind, it begins to settle, even slightly, something else becomes visible—presence.

We are just there.

God Was Never Missing—Only Hidden in Noise

Sometimes we say, “I feel far from God.” But often, it’s not distance. It’s distraction. Distraction has become a way of life for many. We seem to believe that it’s ok. No matter what is happening in the world, everyone begins to just accept it as normal. It’s not. If we learn to stay focused, then we could make the necessary changes in our world instead of just accepting what is being given to us, especially when it isn’t good. Change is simpler then it appears. It’s as simple as I don’t like this. That has changed our world many times.

It’s like standing in a crowded place and not hearing a soft voice calling your name. The voice didn’t stop. The noise just took over your attention. It’s easier to just focus on the noise. It’s easier to just let whatever happens, happen.

Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God.” Stillness here is not about stopping life. It’s about quieting the inside. And when the inside gets quieter, something happens—you begin to notice God, life, not just in prayer, but in everything.

In silence. In breath. In small moments you used to overlook. You have now shifted your attention to your own mind.

The Shift From Searching Outside to Seeing Within

There is a moment in every spiritual journey where seeking begins to change.

At first, you search for God as somewhere far away. But slowly, you realize The Creator is closer than you thought. Not always loud. Not always visible. But present.

Luke 17:21 reminds us, “The kingdom of God is within you.”

That changes everything.

Because now, you are not chasing God through noise—you are leaning into recognize through awareness. And awareness begins within. You are now beginning to get your focus back. This becomes an exercise that you can easily shift back into every time you lose it.

Even Ordinary Life Starts to Feel Different

When your focus shifts inward, you start noticing things you used to rush past, so you don’t make as many mistakes. You start to allow more time instead of rushing. A quiet morning feels better than a hectic start. The day ahead will be hectic enough, so a soft start in the morning gets you focused for the day ahead. Silence begins to feel alive. It’s not that life changes—it’s that your attention changes. And that change transforms everything. We automatically focus on many things already. We focus when we drive, or doing a task. We never lose focus but when it comes to what we want or need to get done whether it’s our work or a project, we tend to lose it. A wonderful metaphor I’ve heard many times is simply: “What do you do with your time?” Focus on that and consider your answer to yourself! I know I’m guilty or I wouldn’t be writing about focus as I see it as one of the most important things we can do.

Wisdom Becomes Something You Feel, Not Just Learn

There is a kind of understanding that doesn’t come from information but stillness. Like insights that rise when the mind is not forcing answers.

That is why even something simple like a drawing of wisdom can feel meaningful because there was enough focus to achieve it. Not because of the image itself, but because it reflects something deeper inside you—the awareness that if you focus it will get done and this is already present within, waiting to be noticed.

Proverbs 2:6 says, “For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.”

And often, that wisdom doesn’t come in loud moments. It comes in still ones. It comes from going inward with our own thoughts and the power that we have to either go with it and do it or change the thoughts that are taking up space in our mind that we don’t need or want. Negative thoughts should always be thrown away and replaced with positive: such as; “I can’t” to “is there a way” “what can I possibly do” or “what do I have already that can change this” You will be surprised at how resourceful you are.

Faith Becomes Stronger When It Becomes Internal

When focus shifts within, faith stops feeling like effort and starts feeling like remembrance. You are not trying to reach God somewhere far, but realize how near.

And even everyday expressions of faith begin to feel more natural. Some people, for example, find comfort in wearing spiritual clothes for men or women. Not as something external or decorative, but as a quiet personal reminder to stay connected inwardly throughout the day.

Not performance. Just presence, that’s where focus happens.

God Is Not Found in One Place—But Everywhere As You Notice

The beautiful truth is this: God was never limited to one moment, one place, or one feeling.

When your mind is scattered, God is distant. When your mind becomes quiet, you see The Creator everywhere. Not because anything changed. But because you noticed.

Colossians 3:2 encourages, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” And when you begin to do that, life starts to feel different.

More connected. More aware.

Coming Home to Yourself Is Coming Closer to God

In the end, focusing within is not about escaping life. It is about coming home to yourself.

And when you come home to yourself, you realize something deeply comforting: God was never absent and always present. Waiting for you in the quiet place inside you, where noise finally slows down… and awareness begins again.
